Mar phàirt den sreath de dealbhan-cluich ùra a’ comharrachadh ceud bliadhna bho thoiseach a’ Chogaidh Mhòir, Gairm nan Gaidheal, le Pròiseact nan Ealan.
If Iseabail had a sweetheart, it would be someone bold and romantic … a soldier with the soul of a poet, a bit like Dòmhnall Ruadh, but he’s been in France for four years. It certainly wouldn’t be anyone like her timid neighbour Ruairidh, judged unfit for military service and one of the few men from the island not in uniform. But now that her brother Seumas is back from the front, wounded and traumatised, Iseabail’s illusions about the war’s noble cause are shattered. Every day more telegrams arrive with bad news for local families, but little does Iseabail know that a worse tragedy is yet to befall her.
Tha mi gu mòr an comain Phròiseact nan Ealan, Iain Fhionnlaigh MhicLeòid agus an sgioba dràma air fad airson cothrom mo sgeulachd a chur air an àrd-ùrlar. I am also grateful to Playwrights’ Studio Scotland for their support and encouragement; this isn’t quite like the play I initially set out to write for PSS, but it evolved and found its own way to North Uist, and the wonderful Sgioba Dràma Uibhist made it their own.
